The applicant will provide support to the production team by undertaking butchery tasks, operating meat processing machinery, assist with the making of products in addition to slicing, packing and labelling products. The role includes basic recipe calculations, managing stock levels, order picking, routine cleaning and record keeping. When necessary the role will also require the candidate to represent the business at markets, events, functions as well as on regular delivery rounds. Other duties that may arise according to the needs of the business.
The products produced by the business include traditional British sausages and cured meats as well as highly specialist continental products such as salami. The placement will offer the candidate with a good basis for a future within the meat industry

The role can be physically demanding and includes manual work as well as heavy lifting. Candidates should be organised and diligent and have an eye for detail as the work is often intricate. The production team is very small and candidates will be expected to work independently at times and under their own initiative. General duties such as recipe calculations calls for basic arithmetic skills, and stock control and record keeping requires a level of administrative skills. All employees are expected to have impeccable hygiene, both personal and within the workplace.
The successful candidate will require a minimum of an supervised Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, however this will be funded by the employer and training will be provided.
