The postholder will work within a multi-disciplinary team of construction professionals (architects, project managers, quantity surveyors, energy officers and service engineers) at Pembrokeshire County Council. The team either directly deliver building construction, energy efficiency or building services projects, or manage external consultant teams to do so.
The postholder will assist various members of the team on a variety of projects, as well as get the opportunity to shadow the project managers of each discipline on delivery of projects from inception through to completion. Areas of work will include:
• Developing an understanding of project management procedures.
• Programming of projects.
• Learning how different types of construction contracts are appropriate for different projects.
• Cost management skills.
• The importance of managing risk in projects.
• Communication between the different parties in a contract.
• Understanding the differences between procurement routes.
• Financial reporting of projects.
• Change management on projects.
• Project communication protocols.
• Fee and resource management on projects.
• Development of IT and CAD skills.

Desirable personal qualities

• Minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above
